Thankful Thursday

THANKFUL THURSDAY: (A Day of Thanks!)

It is good to give thanks to the Lord,

And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High;

To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning,

And Your faithfulness every night…

(Psalm 92: 1-2 NKJV)

Today, many people around the world will sit down to a feast made with love and share it with friends and family.

Today, many are celebrating Thanksgiving Day. I am not one of them. Not because I do not care to, or are unable to, but simply because it is not a custom here in the UK.

I am nevertheless thankful to the Lord for his provision, and I’ve decided to take some time out today to give public thanks for his wonderful blessings.

Now, I’m grateful to God for my basic blessings such as nourishing food, clean water, a roof over my head, and such like. But today, that’s not what my thanks to God is about.

Let me draw your attention back to the above quote from Psalms. Do you agree?

I hope you do because I am taking this opportunity on Thanksgiving Day, to render my special thanks to the illustrious God and Father of all the earth.

My thanks to him goes as follows:

  • Father God, as many around the world gather with family and friends today for a thanksgiving meal, my thoughts turn to the spiritual condition of this age. I want to thank you Father God, for loving the entire population of this world (past, present and future), and for loving us so much that you sent your only begotten Son, to die for us, that we might be redeemed from out of the hands of Satan, that we might be reconciled to you, that we might be delivered from the fate of eternal death. O my God, thank you for your everlasting and extravagant love!
  • Dear Father God, I want to thank you for the precious incorruptible blood of your Son, Jesus Christ. I thank you that his blood speaks of better, nobler things than that of Abel’s blood, which had cried out from the earth demanding vengeance. Lord Jesus, I am so thankful that your blood speaks on my behalf from the mercy seat in heaven, pleading forgiveness, and mercy.
  • I thank you Father God for all the prophetic words that have been spoken over me, and directly to me, regarding your purpose and vision for my life. I am giving thanks to you today in anticipation of their fulfilment. I thank you Lord that you are not a God who lies, nor are you like fickle human beings, who often change their minds. What you have purposed you will perform and what you have promised will surely come to pass.
  • I thank you Father God that whenever the Enemy speaks with the intention of arousing confusion, despair, or fear within me that your still small voice brings about a beautiful, divine interruption. Your voice of lovingkindness evokes faith, hope, and peace.
  • Oh Lord God, when I consider your awesome power, your magnificent might, your majestic glory, I cannot help but exclaim in wonder that you would want to know me, adopt me into your royal family and make me an equal heir with your Son, Jesus Christ. Words fail me. I cannot thank you enough!
  • Father God, I want to thank you for your incredible attention to detail. I see it in the beauty of your creation. I see it in the intricate construction of my very being. As the psalmist rightfully declared: I am fearfully and wonderfully made! And the fact that you have even numbered the very hairs of my head is beyond belief. You are awesome!
  • Father God, I am giving you thanks for the proposed 4-day ceasefire agreed in the Israel -v- Hamas war, together with the release of hostages on both sides. I thank you that no matter what it looks like from the natural perspective, you are ultimately in control of this horrendous situation, and you will use it to execute your will. I thank you Jehovah Nissi!

Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!

For His mercy endures forever.

(Psalm 107:1 (NKJV)

And for all those of my readers who are celebrating – Happy Thanksgiving!

With love,

Carol
