Thankful Thursday

Yes, I am Thankful!

What am I thankful about today?

I don’t ask this because I have run out of things for which I am thankful. Far from it! I ask because I want what I share in this post to be meaningful, hopefully encouraging, even dare I admit, inspiring!

And so I rack my brains for something to share with my readers today that I will feel good about posting, and they will feel has been worth their time in dropping by and spending precious moments to read, and perhaps even respond.

So, what am I thankful about this Thursday?

I am thankful that I am alive!

I may not be the much sought after blogger, or popular published author that I desire to be but each day that I am alive, grants me the opportunity to continue working towards my dream of becoming an effective and influential writer.

I am thankful to be alive, especially when I consider that 3 family members have passed away within the last 5 weeks!

No more opportunities for them. No more possibilities to explore and maximise their potential. No more celebrations with loved ones. No more pursuing of hopes and realisation of dreams. No more wrestling with self-discipline, or dancing with opportunities, or unearthing precious nuggets within the mines of godly, or secular wisdom. No more!

And today, as I remember the embattled soldiers and citizens of Ukraine, Israel, Lebanon and Gaza, I am also supremely thankful that the only warfare I’m currently engaged in, is the one being fought on the battlefield of prayer, or upon the frontlines of an overcoming and victorious Christian walk.

I am thankful that if, or should, the Enemy of my soul, successfully wreak havoc in my life, or the lives of my loved ones, I can call upon the Prince of Peace to settle my fears and anxieties. I can depend upon the effective spiritual defence program and resources of God’s kingdom, which are never in short supply.

I am thankful that the need for a spiritual peace treaty in my life is not (and never will be), solely reliant upon a human being. It is not dependent upon despotic or machiavellian leaders, or wicked oppressors, or the whims of ruthless terrorists.

As King David said:

Though an army may encamp against me,

My heart shall not fear;

Though war may rise against me,

In this I will be confident.

(Psalm 27:3 (NKJV)

So, what is the ‘this’ that makes me confident?

‘This’ happens to be the knowledge that the Lord God is my emotional, physical, and spiritual strength. He is the prevailing strength of my life. So, no matter what I am doing, no matter who chooses to oppose me (whether demonic or human foes), no matter what difficulties or tragedies unfold in my life, no matter how many periods of despair or disillusionment I face, or have yet to go through, Jehovah Nissi (the Lord God – my banner of victory), will respond to my appeals for help, or my cries seeking spiritual backup. He will not leave me helpless or defenceless.

He is ever available, ever willing to sustain and support me. And he is more than capable of summoning his awesome military might and power (yeah!), and marshalling his angelic armies to fulfil his strategic plans and purpose, within me, around me, and through me, for the promulgation and expansion of his kingdom.

I am thankful!

Question:

  • Are you troubled about the constant catastrophies and never-ending evils of this world?
  • Are you struggling with unhealed inner hurts, or unresolved personal anxieties?

Then reach out today to the King of kings, the Lord of lords and the Prince of Peace.

He is just one call away,
So don’t delay.
Reach out to him – today!

With much love,

Carol
